From Ambition to Admission

The tutor chosen and trusted by the admins of r/GAMSAT,

the hub of medical school entrance information.

Quick Introduction

Hello!

I'm a penultimate medical student at the Royal Melbourne Hospital through University of Melbourne (Rank 1# Australian Medical University and 15th in the world (https://www.topuniversities.com/university-subject-rankings/life-sciences-medicine).

After graduating from high school with a 99.85 ATAR, I started a Bachelor of Pre-Medical Science at Griffith University. However, finding it unsuitable for my life at the time, I switched to a Bachelor of Economics at The University of Queensland. After working as a health economist, I spent a year lecturing in China and then pursued a Bachelor of Psychology, graduating with a strong GPA. With a competitive GAMSAT score, I received offers from The University of Melbourne and The University of Sydney. I’m now in my clinical years of the MD at The University of Melbourne, the Rank 1 unviersity in Australia - and now I tutor students in medical entrance exams. This tutoring role is incredibly rewarding, I absolutely love helping students achieve their goals.

What I Tutor

GAMSAT Section II

Written Communication Skills

My GAMSAT Section II tutoring focuses on enhancing students' written communication abilities, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. We offer personalized feedback and strategies to help students master this section effectively.

CASPer

Situational Judgement Test

Preparing for the CASPer test requires specific skills in empathetic reasoning, communication, and decision-making. I provide comprehensive training to help students navigate challenging scenarios and excel in this assessment, making your pathway into the MD considerably easier knowing you have a Q4 CASPer up your sleeve.

At Key2MD, I specialise in preparing students for GAMSAT Section I, Section II, CASPer, and Multiple-Mini Interviews (MMIs).

Through comprehensive 1:1 tutoring, you will begin to excel at the key criteria areas being targeted by the entrance process, namely empathy, communication, and self-awareness.

There seems to be this horrible predatory atmosphere amongst medical entry companies where they hire medical applicants to tutor medical applicants, with the blind leading the blind, and charge an absolute fortune in the process. At Key2MD, you are tutored only by me, with a long history of successful students getting into medical schools as a result of my tutoring - you know you're getting what you pay for. My testimonials are long and plentiful, because the students achieved what many didn't believe were possible, you aren't paying for my marketing (of which I spend 0), you're paying for my results.

I tutor students in all aspects of medical entry, from GAMSAT, to CASPer, to MMI. I take most of my students on the full journey as they stick with what is tried and true. The only area I cannot help is Section 3 of GAMSAT, simply because whilst I am competent, I am not a great tutor at science, and you're much better off looking at Jesse Osbourne's videos, or finding a S3 tutor with a strong scientific background

What do I tutor?

Multiple-MiniInterviews (MMIs)

Interview Preparation

My MMI preparation focuses on honing students' interview skills, communication abilities, and professionalism. With mock interviews, feedback sessions, and tailored guidance, we ensure students are well-equipped for their medical school interviews.

Testimonials

In the few years I've been tutoring medical entrance exams, I have collected quite a few reviews, which I think speak a lot louder than anything I could ever say. Read on below.
*These reviews are all independently verified through the website StudentVIP - all linked to phone numbers of students with legitimate account creation dates etc*.
Alethea (ANU)

"Dan is an amazing interview tutor, let me give you some context: I am an international student, so I could apply to multiple universities. I prepared for Casper following general advice from YouTube and courses on the internet, and to my dismay I absolutely bombed it. I received a 1st quartile. I knew then that I couldn’t afford to mess around for my interviews and that my self-study wasn’t working, I needed advice and exposure from mock interviews with a medical student. I came across Dan by chance and decided to go for it. I am so glad I did ! As international students we really don’t have the luxury of applying the next year if we don’t make it in our current year. His advice is practical and definitely not sugarcoated (which i quickly learned to appreciate haha), I saw real improvement in myself after 2-3 sessions and with that my confidence increased as well.

My student visa was expiring and my Gamsat & GPA scores weren’t super competitive. I had only one shot at my unis, If I didn’t get in I wouldn’t be able to apply again next year. I am happy to say that I got into all 6 universities that I applied for! And I believe that Dan had a huge part to play in that. I would definitely recommend and vouch for him. I would say that he is totally worth the expense and his advice is so helpful that you honestly wouldn’t even need too many sessions. Try your luck and ask for the Ale empathy discount 😁"

Yousif (UNDF)

"Thanks to Dan, I feel that I smashed my CASPR and my medical school interview, copping a CSP offer in the process.

Dan is the most comprehensive tutor you'll find for medical interviews and CASPR. You have here a guy who is very comprehensive in his understanding of what is sought after in prospective applicants. For me, he helped frame my structure and content for these occasions such that I really was able to relax and let my personality shine. Dan is a highly emotionally intelligent guy and definitely helped instill that ethos in me during our prep.

Towards the end of my interview prep, Dan kindly offered to run a full interview mock with me, which I felt really sharpened my senses and gave me an idea of how the interview process can be a bit of a marathon. This is just one example of how Dan pulls out the stops to ensure that you are as best prepared as possible for the big day.

I've been with a few other tutors, and none are as comprehensive and knowledgeable or caring about your progress as Dan is. If you're serious about your prep, you couldn't find a better tutor."

Celine (UoM)

"I reached out to Dan as soon as I got my MMI offer, so about 2.5 weeks before my actual interview date. As someone whose combo score barely scraped an interview, I knew my chances were incredibly slim.

Thanks to Dan, I was in absolute disbelief when I got a CSP for my 1st preference uni for my first application. Every lesson was clear, directed, with a focus or theme of our choosing. His questions are thoughtful, and his reflections on your responses are even more nuanced. There are so many details and ideas I simply wouldn't have been able to grasp without his feedback. He also has a well-rounded understanding of the med school application system, and tailors his tutoring towards the university you're applying for.

It is so clear that Dan has a natural affinity for teaching - every lesson was incredibly fun and informative, and I genuinely felt like I got my money's worth out of every session. He won't sugarcoat anything for you - he'll tell you exactly where you did well and what needs work. I was honestly sad when tutoring was over.

Dan is an exceptional tutor, a lovely individual, and cares so deeply for his students. He will see you through from the beginning of your preparation all the way to anxiously awaiting offers. Couldn't recommend him enough - you won't regret choosing him for your MMI preparation."
