- Authentic regional and rural interest - specific, real reasons rather than a rehearsed line.
- Team-minded communication - you work with people and explain clearly.
- Empathy you can hear in role-play stations.
- Balanced, honest reasoning rather than a rush to the "right" answer.
Common mistakes we see
- A metro-only outlook when the program is clearly regional.
- Generic answers with no specific connection to people or place.
- Talking over the other person in a role-play.
- Sounding rehearsed rather than genuine.
About the Deakin MD program
Deakin's Doctor of Medicine is a graduate-entry program of around four years, based in Geelong with extensive regional and rural placements across Victoria (including sites such as Warrnambool). Teaching is integrated and case-based with early clinical exposure. Confirm the current structure with Deakin.
