Deakin Bonus Adjustments
Deakin publishes percentage adjustments that can be applied to the combined GPA/GAMSAT aggregate. The Key2MD calculator applies these only to Deakin, not to other schools.
| Adjustment | Typical value | Important note |
|---|---|---|
| Financial disadvantage | 2% | Requires eligible evidence of income support or similar disadvantage. |
| Prior clinical experience | 4% | Usually requires at least 12 months full-time equivalent eligible clinical practice. |
| General work experience | 2% | Cannot be combined with the clinical experience adjustment. |
| Deakin study | 4% | For eligible Deakin degrees with the required proportion completed at Deakin. |
| Geelong MM1 or MM2 residence | 4% | Cannot be double-counted with the higher rurality adjustment. |
| MM3-MM7 rural/regional residence | 8% | The strongest published Deakin adjustment. |
What Students Miss
The mistake is treating Deakin like a normal combo-only school. A student with a slightly lower base combo but strong adjustment eligibility can become much more competitive than their raw GPA/GAMSAT suggests.
Deakin also has a Rural Training Stream with tiered ranking. Rural applicants should check the stream rules directly, because written application elements can matter in addition to the aggregate.
